Japan's Teijin has developed nano-grade durable polyester fiber

Teijin Synthetic Fiber Co., Ltd. has announced that the company has developed a nano-sized polyester fiber that is twice as durable as any polyester fiber on the market.
According to reports, this new type of fiber was jointly developed by Teijin Synthetic Fiber Co., Ltd. and the professor of textile systems engineering at Shinshu University in Japan. The surface area of such polyester fiber is 300 to 1000 times larger than that of conventional polyester fiber, and thus the clothes made therefrom Lighter, absorbs twice as much water as conventional polyester fibers.
Teijin’s subsidiary plans to develop large-scale production technology for this fiber and plans to officially launch it within the next two years. Since this new fiber diameter can be adjusted in the range of 100 to 1000 nanometers and has a fluctuation range of 5% or less, this novel fiber can be applied to other fields than clothing. For example, it can be applied to a high-performance filter of an air cleaner.
