On December 1, Huawei's Central Research Institute Watt Lab announced that it has achieved significant research breakthroughs in the field of lithium-ion batteries: the industry's first high-temperature long-life graphene-based lithium-ion battery.
The experimental results show that the new high temperature resistant technology based on graphene can increase the upper limit of lithium ion battery use temperature by 10 °C, and the service life is twice that of ordinary lithium ion batteries. Li Yangxing, chief scientist of Huawei Watt Lab, revealed that the breakthrough mainly comes from three aspects: adding special additives to the electrolyte to remove traces of water and avoiding pyrolysis of the electrolyte; the positive electrode of the battery is modified by large single crystal ternary materials.
