Recovery of Valuable Metals from Waste Petroleum Catalysts by Leaching-Solvent Extraction

We developed a Debaraj Mishra et containing from Ni, V, leaching valuable metals Mo spent catalyst in oil recovery - solvent extraction process. The spent catalyst was washed with acetone and leached with acid. The results showed that the recovery of other valuable metals except Mo was higher. The low recovery of Mo is due to the formation of a layer of impermeable sulfur on the Mo-based. The acid leaching effect is improved by the spent catalyst washed with acetone-carbon disulfide (CS 2 ). Leaching with a 1 mol/L H 2 SO 4 solution followed by washing with (NH 4 ) 2 CO 3 to recover Mo-Ni-V exceeded 90%. The acidic leachate was extracted with a solvent of LIX-841, and Mo and V were separated at different pHs.
